Mount Rushmore, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, is an iconic American landmark. The sculptor behind Mount Rushmore was Gutzon Borglum, a Danish-American artist. He started the project in 1927 and worked on it until his death in 1941. The original plan for Mount Rushmore was to depict the presidents from head to waist, but due to insufficient funding, only the heads were completed. Despite the massive scale of the project, no workers died during the construction of the monument. Also, Thomas Jefferson was originally started on George Washington's right, but due to unsuitable rock, the partially completed face was blasted off and carved on Washington's left.
