Unfortunately, her mother passed away when she was just four years old. Despite the hardships, Sirani showed a great passion for painting from a young age. She quickly became a successful artist, having produced an impressive 200 paintings, drawings, and etchings in her short life. She was not only a talented artist but also an influential teacher, opening her own academy in her home, which was a rarity for women of her time. Sirani died suddenly at the age of 27 on August 28, 1665. The cause of her death remains a mystery, with speculations ranging from poisoning by a rival to complications of a peptic ulcer. Her funeral was a significant event in Bologna, reflecting the high regard in which she was held by her contemporaries.
